meWATCH in Singapore

Mediacorp's own service: Channel 5, Channel 8, Suria and Vasantham, free with advertising, and the only home for Singaporean television.

meWATCH is Mediacorp's streaming service and it is free. It carries Channel 5, Channel 8, Suria and Vasantham — English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil — which makes it the only service that addresses all four of Singapore's official languages, and the only place Singaporean television lives at all.

What it is good for

Local programming, in every sense. Singaporean drama, current affairs, variety and news, plus the archive of Mediacorp productions going back decades. No international service carries any of it, and none is likely to.

It is also the answer for Malay and Tamil viewers, who are close to unserved by the paid international services. Suria and Vasantham have no equivalent anywhere else, and that alone is reason to keep the app installed regardless of what else you pay for.

  • Channel 5, Channel 8, Suria and Vasantham on demand
  • Singaporean drama and the Mediacorp archive
  • The only substantial Malay and Tamil catalogue here
  • Free, on an ad-supported basis

Where it falls short here

It is a broadcaster's catch-up service, not a film service. The film library is small and the international content is limited to what Mediacorp licensed for broadcast. Nobody should treat it as a replacement for a general subscription — it sits alongside one.

The advertising load on the free tier is heavy by streaming standards, closer to broadcast television than to an ad-supported streaming tier.

Languages and subtitles

Its whole point. Programming is offered in all four official languages, and Mediacorp subtitles across them more consistently than any commercial service manages. For a household watching in more than one language it is unmatched.

Pricing shape

Free with advertising. A paid tier removes advertising and adds content, and Mediacorp has bundled it with telco plans at various points — but the core service, including all four channels, costs nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Is meWATCH really free?
Yes, on an ad-supported basis, including all four Mediacorp channels. There is an optional paid tier, but the core service costs nothing.
Can I watch meWATCH outside Singapore?
Access is restricted by territory and much of the catalogue is unavailable abroad, because Mediacorp only holds Singapore rights to a lot of it. See our page on watching Singapore television abroad for what does travel.
Does meWATCH have films?
Some, but it is a broadcaster's service rather than a film library. Use it for Singaporean television and pair it with a general subscription for films.
