Chinese subtitles in Singapore, and Simplified versus Traditional

Simplified Chinese is the default subtitle script in Singapore, on streaming and in cinemas alike. Traditional Chinese is much less consistently offered, which matters in households where an older family member reads Traditional and everyone else reads Simplified or English.

Singapore standardised on Simplified Chinese, so local subtitling, Mediacorp's output and the regional streaming services all default to it. This is a genuine difference from Hong Kong or Taiwan, and it is why subtitle advice written for those markets misleads readers here.
If Traditional is what you need, the dedicated Chinese platforms sometimes offer it as an alternate track, but it cannot be assumed on any given title.
